A review of the February 2011 monthly reports has shown a 60% increase in traffic collisions as compared to this time last calendar year. Traffic statistical reports show the following intersections are the most crash prone: Route 1 and Route 54, Route 1 and Ashcake Road, and Route 54 and Cottage Green Drive.

The most common causes of these crashes were found to be: Failure to yield the right of way, following too closely and failure to maintain control. In an effort to keep the roadways safe for the citizens of our community the Ashland Police Department will be implementing focused traffic enforcement beginning in the month of April and will continue these efforts for the next several months. In addition, every month the Department will post the top accident locations on our website for the community to view.
